An independent filmmaker invited friends and family to a studio to shoot a project he was contemplating. Before or after this studio session, he collaborated with these friends and family members at home and outdoors on what he considered a film about waiting.
- ASTRONOMICAL UNITS -
Narrative short
A retired astronaut, homebound by an injury, and her imaginative granddaughter orbit one another – and learn to see each other – through an overlapping awe of the universe.
- PACIFY -
Experimental Short
The concept of “pacifiers” as a coping mechanism for feelings of vulnerability and uncertainty is a common theory in psychology.
The idea is that as we grow older, we develop ways of coping with stress and negative emotions that mimic the comforting sensation of being held or nurtured.
The film presents these coping mechanisms, such as smoking, drinking, sex, and self-comfort. It is an observational work on how we all “pacify” ourselves.
